Damon & Rachael
Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at 6:44PM I recently had the privilege to be second shooter at a wedding for Diana Bauer who was covering a beautiful ceremony at the Radisson, Gold Coast. Just before Rachael arrived with her three hot pink bridesmaids and three adorable flowergirls, a light rain started to fall. The ceremony was moved indoors and Rachael walked down the aisle as the cellist and violinist played.
This wedding was unique and definitely a first for me, as both the bride and groom are Deaf. Just being able to watch, during the ceremony as Damon and Rachael declared their love for each other, through sign language, brought me to tears. The emotion-filled ceremony was conducted by the totally amazing Bobbie Blackson, who is also Deaf. And helping everyone on the day with communication were two wonderful interpreters, the lovely Judie and Peter Bonser. Gratefully, the skies cleared and we were able to take the bridal party out onto the lush grounds of the Radisson for photos.
Thank you so much to Rachael and Damon for allowing me to share your special day. Also, thanks to bridesmaid Sheree and groomsman Jason, for trying to understand me with my 'almost non-existent' signing skills. If anyone does require a photographer who can sign, please contact Diana Bauer on 0438 403 594. Marriage celebrant Bobbie Blackson can be contacted on 0401 696 474. And interpreters Peter and Judie Bonser at peter.bonser@deafsq.org.au Here are a few shots from the wedding...
